HOW FAR DOES MY TIME GO? Everyone has different speeds for processing, the amount of questions they want to ask and general decision making ability. There can be a big time difference between the person who knows exactly what they want, they just need a little help getting there and the person who has all the questions, has no idea what they like and wants help every step of the way. I can help you both and everyone in-between but I need you to take a moment to reflect on yourself, you know who you are, and +/- the numbers below accordingly.
ESTIMATE OF HOURS NEEDED TO COMPLETE HOME PROJECTS
My process is incredibly simple yet ambiguous at the same time and that's I like about it. Getting clear around your vision, creating an action plan to make it happen and the confidence to know you can get what you want.
I am going to get to know you really well, really quickly. My process is about understanding who you are as a person, your authentic style, your goals for the space and for life. I am not here to judge you, I don't care what style you like or the type of lifestyle you prefer, just that it's authentic to you and you feel passionate about it. My blog is called Interior Design Therapy Sessions because that's what this is. We are going to talk about what's working for you and what's not, where you are struggling and what you need to thrive. Your home should be undeniably you, the one place you feel safe and absolutely yourself. It's not for anyone else, it's for you. I am here to make sure you get what you want and feel empowered through the process.
Your dreams are possible and I am going to help you figure it out.
You might see me completing construction projects in my portfolio or social media but these are always personal projects. I am not a licensed contractor and so cannot work on your project. Maybe some day.
When it comes to murals and other custom paintings, yes! I can design and physically paint on your surface. I would love to.
You can also find me on Etsy as Radically Authentic by B Design.
Your contractor is not an interior designer. That showroom sales person does not see your entire vision. YOU need to show up prepared and knowing what you want. This is your space, your dream, your life. Your home should be undeniably you and only YOU can create it but the road ahead is not easy and you don't have to go it alone.
The interior design and construction world can be vastly overwhelming, even to professionals. People need help navigating this process and not everyone can afford a full service design team. I believe many people can DIY their way through a construction process if they have a trusted expert to guide them when needed. A few hours to get you on the right path can change the course of any project. By charging hourly and accepting smaller projects, I can stay affordable for most projects.
Any traditional construction project can get complicated real quick, now take it the next step and try to do something unusual. Or be a woman or minority of any kind. The process just got a lot harder. I am especially here for you. To help you fully realize your project, know that's is possible and get what you want. Empowerment through interior design.
I received my BFA in Interior Design from Iowa State University in 2004 and have been in the design industry every since. I like to learn and grow and so I have worked throughout the industry on a variety of project types - residential, commercial, healthcare and hospitality, with budgets in the millions, celebrity clients and big name corporations but I am most proud of the people I have helped, predominately women, find their voices in the construction process and own their style and that's where I continue to focus. Empowering women and minorities through the interior design and construction process.
I love construction, every step of it, from napkin concept to construction drawings to completing the work myself on personal projects. I am constantly trying out ideas, testing materials and working through construction details. I love diving in, problem solving, detailing and building. Don't ask me to decorate your guest room, I am not that kind of interior designer.
Being an artist, I bring a level of creativity and experience beyond my interior design experience. I am a multi media artist, I like to work with non-traditional materials and I think big. This lends to high end, ultra creative designs that are incredibly unique to each project. I have been creating since I was a child, my knowledge base and skill set are vast. Combine that with my love for construction and you've got yourself a uniquely qualified fabricator who can create about anything. Bring me your ideas!
